BRINGING SOLID SURFACE LOCKERS TO PAC-12 FOOTBALL

In 2019, University of Utah Athletics began an $80 million expansion and renovation of Rice Eccles Stadium, funded in part by a lead gift from the Ken Garff family. The Ken Garff Performance Zone enclosed the stadium by connecting the east and west concourses on the south end. This project increases seating capacity, including luxury suites, as well as updated locker rooms, meeting spaces, and recruiting lounges. Populous was named the architect for the project, and Shield was tapped to manufacture the lockers.

Shield worked collaboratively with the university’s athletic department and Populous to deliver 90 player lockers truly unique to the needs of Utes football. The locker design features a solid surface build.

In total, 90 lockers found their new home at Rice Eccles Stadium, giving the Utes a competitive edge for training and recruitment. This was our third project with the University of Utah - we've previously worked on their softball and golf projects as well.
