In 2015, Northwestern Athletics began construction on new facilities for Olympic sports – Ryan Fieldhouse and Walter Athletics Center. Perkins & Will was named lead architect, HOK was brought on as associate architect, and Shield Lockers was tapped to manufacture the lockers.

Shield worked collaboratively with both design firms and the university’s athletic department to deliver 333 player lockers truly unique to the needs of Wildcats Olympic sports. All locker designs feature a solid surface build laminate back, with a perforated solid surface door.

Additional features include:

• Toe kick and integrated lighting
• Lockbox with digital lock
• Integrated USB and power
• Soft-close bench storage.

 In total, 333 lockers found their new home in the new Ryan Fieldhouse and Walter Athletics Center, giving the Wildcats a competitive edge for training and recruitment.
