BRINGING SOLID SURFACE LOCKERS TO THE HOUSTON COUGARS

As part of Houston’s push to compete at the highest level in the Big 12, the centerpiece of the TDECU Stadium renovations is the new Memorial Hermann Football Operations Center. Opened to coincide with the 2025 season opener, this $140 million, 160,000 square-foot complex serves as the heartbeat of Cougar football. The facility features a massive 20,000-square-foot weight room, cutting-edge locker rooms, sports performance and recovery spaces, team meeting rooms, and academic support areas—all designed to give players every resource they need to succeed on and off the field. This transformative project represents the largest investment in Houston football to date and sets a bold foundation for the program’s future. DLR Group was named the architect for the project, and Shield was tapped to manufacture the lockers.

Shield worked collaboratively with the university’s athletic department and DLR Group to deliver 120 player lockers truly unique to the needs of Utes football. The locker design features a solid surface build.

Additional features include:

  • Integrated feature lighting
  • Shoulder pad rack
  • Helmet display shelf
  • Marine grade vinyl bench seat
  • Lockbox with digital lock
  • Equipment hooks
  • Ventilated lift-up bench seat
In total, 150 lockers found their new home at Memorial Hermann Football Operations Center, giving the Cougars a competitive edge for gameday and recruitment.
