RAISING THE GATOR STANDARD

In 2019, The Florida Gators and Florida-based architecture firm Walker Architects approached Shield about creating a custom locker that would serve as the team’s interim training lockers until the Gators’ new $85 million Football Training Center is complete. They would then serve in a gameday capacity following completion of the training center.

Beyond just football, the Gator’s mission was part of a larger, long-term plan for the success of their athletics' programs and to help cohesively brand their athletic campus over time. They partnered with KC-based Dimensional Innovations to ensure every athletic building rose to the new “Gator Standard.”

CREATIVE CUSTOMN LIGHTING

The Florida Gators football lockers work together with creative lighting, which plays a critical role in the new locker room since it’s primary function focuses on the gameday experience. Adjustable RGB LED lighting in the jersey display gives equipment managers control over the room ambience; focal downlighting from the soffits provides a trophy case feature effect for each player; and the dark ceiling gives contrast against largely white vertical elements to help enlarge the space during both gameday and everyday lighting schemes.

Other locker features include:

• Microbial-resistant acrylic solid surface construction provides durability, cleanability, and low maintenance longevity
• Pivoting helmet and jersey display rack for dying, as well as easier accessibility for everyday use and gameday staging
• Integrated USB and power inside lockable storage compartment
• Infilled custom branding routing
• Custom acrylic player nameplates
• Laser-engraved Gator hanging hooks
• Marine-grade vinyl seat cushions with tilt-up, ventilated storage
• Routing for storage ventilation

In total, 120 football player lockers found their new home in the new Bryan Kornblau Locker room, which boasted a new player’s lounge, graphics, carpet, and technological updates.
