The ultimate locker room refresh

In 2019, Shield Lockers worked with KC-based design firms Generator Studios and Dimensional Innovations to create a locker room experience out of the future. The Brooklyn Nets are revitalizing their historic brand and using state-of-the-art facility’s newness as a recruiting tool.

The results are spectacular and a significant transformation inside the Barclays Center for the incoming star-studded roster. According to ESPN’s Kristian Winfield, it’s “…like walking into your closet in the year 2046,” and “…unlike anything I’ve seen around the league.”

The design team understood the longevity and design aesthetic of solid surface material – clean and modern appearance, incredibly durable, microbial-resistant, and waterproof. Shoe storage and display was central to the design, as well as the ability to “button up” the locker outside of active use. Other key features include:

  • Full-height opaque glass pocketing doors with laser-etched, powder-coated door handles
  • Integrated USB and power, including angled tablet dock
  • Felt-lined, lockable storage drawer
  • Acrylic shoe displays
  • LED electronic player name plates
  • Routing for ventilation
  • Microbial-resistant solid surface construction

In total, 17 lockers found their new home in the Barclays Center. The Brooklyn Nets home court and locker room have been reborn.

It’s “…like walking into your closet in the year 2046,” and “…unlike anything I’ve seen around the league.”
